A video package highlighting last week’s main event is aired. Kurt Angle’s recent rivalry with James Storm is also touched upon and Storm promises to be here this week to confront Angle.
We then head into the Impact Wrestling Zone as Sting’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Sting wants to get right down to business and calls Bobby Roode to the ring. Roode comes out and Sting tells Roode that he still has some consequences to deal with as Sting asks Dixie Carter to come down to the ring. Dixie comes out and Sting tells Roode that he hasn’t forgotten what he did to Dixie a couple of weeks ago and tells Roode to make a public apology.
Roode grabs a microphone and asks Sting if he is serious. Roode then says he wants to make things right and tells Dixie that he is sorry for not being completely honest with her, but now he isn’t afraid to say what he wants as he is the champion. Roode says things have changed for the better since he became champion and calls Dixie a fraud and says she has had everything handed to her on a silver platter. Roode then says whether they like it or not, he is the face of the company and he just spit in their faces. Roode begins to leave the ring and actually spits in Dixie’s face as Sting chases him out of the ring and we head into a commercial break.
We return to Impact Wrestling as AJ Styles confronts Bobby Roode in the back and what gives him the right to do what he just did. Styles says he will take him apart and finish him off at Final Resolution. Sting then comes in the picture and has to be held back by agents. Styles tells Sting that he needs to have a level head and that he will take care of Roode.
Match 1: Samoa Joe vs. Abyss
Abyss and Joe go back and forth in the opening moments until Abyss levels Joe with a big boot and we head into a commercial break. We return to the action and see Joe take Abyss down with a kick and a senton back splash for a near fall. Joe then connects with a series of headbutts but Abyss comes back with a couple of clotheslines to turn the tide. Abyss goes for a chokeslam but Joe counters with an enziguri and hits Abyss with a knee to the face. Abyss begins to set up for the muscle buster but Scott Steiner distracts Joe and the referee. Bully Ray then runs in from the other side and nails Joe with a chain and Abyss sends Joe down to the canvas with a chokeslam to pick up the pin fall.
After the match, Ray and Steiner enter the ring and raise Abyss’ arms in the air, however, Abyss returns to motion by nailing Steiner with a Black Hole Slam. Abyss then turns his attention to Ray, but he instead runs out of the ring to get away from the monster.
Karen Jarrett is backstage and tells Gail Kim and Madison Rayne that ODB did not finish the job last week. She then tells Madison to do what ODB couldn’t do with Mickie James and tear her apart. As for Gail, Karen tells her that she will also be competing tonight against Traci Brooks, but Gail doesn’t want to be the person that Traci takes out all of her aggressions on that Karen caused. Karen then closes the door as we go into a commercial break.
Sting is backstage with Gunner who says he has granted Garett Bischoff two matches against him. All he wants from Sting is a rematch against Garett with no Ric Flair or Eric Bischoff around. Gunner says Sting will have his word on that stipulation.
Devon and D’Angelo Dinero come out to the ring and call out the TNA Tag Team Champions, Matt Morgan and Crimson. They come out and Devon congratulates them on becoming champions even though they were once beating each other up before teaming together. Devon talks about his past tag team accomplishments and tells them to bring their best to Final Resolution. Devon says he wants no excuses when it is all said and done before shaking their hands while saying may the best team win.
The Pope then jumps in and says he may not agree with everything that Devon said, one thing they can agree on is that they are two of the biggest, dumbest, honkies that they have seen. Pope continues by saying it’s all about the money as it goes hand in hand with wearing gold and will do what it takes to take the championship from them. Pope then hits Morgan with a shoulder as he walks by which ignites a brawl between both teams. Pope then waves in Devon’s two sons as they get into the ring and beat down Morgan, however, Morgan is able to stand up and chase all of them out of the ring.
James Storm is seen walking backstage as we head into the next match of the night.
Match 2: Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James
Madison attacks Mickie as she is posing for the fans on the turnbuckle. Madison tosses Mickie around the ring and picks up a near fall in the early going. Madison continues on the attack and locks Mickie in a headlock but Mickie fights her off and hits Madison with a couple of clotheslines. Mickie heads to the top rope and goes for a Lou Thesz press, but Madison gets out of the way and takes Mickie down with a kick for another near fall. Madison begins to choke Mickie on the ring ropes before hitting a neckbreaker for another near fall. Mickie again begins to fight back and hits Madison with a DDT to pick up the pin fall. After the match, Gail Kim comes out and poses with the TNA Knockouts Championship to taunt the challenger to her title.
Garett Bischoff is seen walking around backstage as his match with Gunner is coming up next.
Scott Steiner and Bully Ray are backstage and are trying to come up with another game plan to get Abyss back into Immortal. Steiner says he will talk to Eric Bischoff since they are tight and get something figured out.
A video package on Garett Bischoff is aired which highlights his short wrestling career with his two matches against Gunner. This brings us into the next match of the night.
Match 3: Gunner vs. Garett Bischoff
Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair join Gunner for this match, even though he said he would come out by himself. Before the match starts, Gunner tells Bischoff and Flair that he can handle things and tells them to leave the ringside area. The bell rings and Gunner uses his power advantage until Bischoff is able to turn the tide with a bulldog and a clothesline. Gunner then takes him down and shoves him out to the floor. Gunner continues to beat him down and shoves him into the ring post a couple of times before rolling him back into the ring. Gunner powers Garett around the ring while trash talking until Garett catches his leg and pins him down to the mat for the three count.
Gunner doesn’t take the loss to well and beats Garett down and rams him into the steel steps. Gunner then sets up for a piledriver but Eric Bischoff runs out and makes him stop. Bischoff then removes the padding around the ring and tells Gunner to do it right. Gunner then piledrives Garett onto the floor as Bischoff walks away with a smile on his face as we head into a commercial break.
After the break we see paramedics roll Garett Bischoff out on a stretcher as Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair talk trash. Flair says he is proud of Eric as he tells his son that he will call his mother and tell her that he is doing fine. We then join the announce team who wonders how a father can have this done to his son while telling us that they will update us on Garett’s condition once they know more.
James Storm’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring. Storm says he never backs down from a challenge and wonders where Kurt Angle is at. Angle’s music hits as he comes down to the ring and gives Storm credit for being one of the toughest SOB’s he has ever met. Angle says he thought Storm would be out for at least six months, but he was only out for three weeks. Angle continues by saying he will get the job done at Final Resolution and will be prepared to fight him, unlike the last match they had.
Storm steps in and gives Angle a short history of his rough life and says that Angle does not scare him one bit. Storm continues by saying he knocked Angle out a Last Call and he is going to do it again and crush his head like a beer can. Storm says he is going to show how intimidated he is of Angle by turning around and giving him an opportunity for a free shot. Angle doesn’t do anything and Storm says he will see him on Sunday before leaving the ring.
Karen Jarrett is backstage telling Gail Kim and Traci Brooks that people are saying she is giving Gail special treatment, which is why Gail has to wrestle tonight. She then tells Traci that one problem is that she’s not fair and tells Traci to lay down for Gail once the bell rings. Karen then warns her that she will have to deal with her wrath if she tries any funny business as we head into a commercial break.
Devon is backstage and is pushing his two sons around. Devon tells them that he is the one that calls the shots and tells them never to step foot in the ring again. The Pope walks in and Devon flips on him until his sons stop him. Devon then says he is going to leave before he does something that he will regret and tells them to think long and hard about what they just did. As Devon leaves, the Pope walks in and tells them that Devon will calm down and that they did the right thing earlier by helping out their old man.
Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles are backstage and say that they are on the same page and they are going to take care of business in the ring tonight.
Match 4: Traci Brooks vs. Gail Kim
The bell rings and Traci slowly lays down. Gail covers but Traci kicks out before taking Gail down and connects with several punches. Traci continues on the attack and picks up a near fall in the process. Traci then takes Gail down with a clothesline and a spear as Karen Jarrett runs out. Traci goes after Karen and the referee tries to separate them as Madison Rayne runs in and nails Traci with a title belt. Gail then covers Traci to pick up the pin fall.
Jeff Jarrett and Bobby Roode are backstage and Jarrett says he will take care of Jeff Hardy tonight so he won’t be able to compete at Final Resolution, thus ending his wrestling career. Roode says nobody will do anything to him or his partner tonight.
Christopher Daniels wonders how many times he has to beat “Bob” Van Dam before he gets it through his head that Daniels is the better man. He then suggests that they have a old fashioned grappling match at Final Resolution. The announce team then hypes the Final Resolution card, which takes place this Sunday.
Match 5: Jeff Hardy & AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett & Bobby Roode
Jeremy Borash handles the formal introductions for the main event but is cut off as Hardy and Styles charge after Jarrett and Roode. The four fight around the ring as Jarrett is sent into the steel steps and Roode is sent into the guard railing. Jarrett is finally able to send Hardy into the ring post and goes over to help his partner by nailing Styles from behind. The match enters the ring where Styles is able to take Jarrett down with a dropkick. Styles then goes for a flying forearm but Jarrett ducks out of the way and Styles appears to have tweeked his knee. Hardy and Roode are tagged into the match as we head into a commercial break.
We return to the match to see Hardy is in control of the match before tagging Styles into the match. Styles continues to wear down Roode until Roode kicks Styles in the knee. Jarrett is tagged into the match and the referee is distracted as Roode trips up Styles and slams his knee on the ring apron. Jarrett and Roode begin using quick tags and focus on Styles’ knee and keeping him isolated to their corner of the ring.
Styles is able to connect with a Pele kick on Roode and begins to crawl to his corner but Jarrett runs in and knocks Hardy off the ring apron. Hardy then charges after Jarrett as the two fight their way to the backstage area. Karen Jarrett runs after them and rakes Hardy’s back, but he continues to beat down Jarrett.
Back in the ring, Roode locks Styles in a single leg crab but Styles makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Roode gets in the referee’s face, which gives Styles a chance to regroup before taking Roode down with a series of clotheslines. Styles then tries to pick Roode up but his knee buckles and Roode answers back with a spinebuster. Roode then goes for a fisherman’s suplex but Styles counters and rolls up Roode for the pin fall.
After the match, Roode goes after Styles but Styles clocks him with a flying fist and then slingshots himself over the top rope to take Roode out on the floor. Styles then goes after Roode on the entrance ramp before Roode escapes. Styles then poses for the crowd as Roode runs back out and takes Styles out with a chop block. Roode then slams Styles’ knee on the stage and the crowd rains down a chorus of boos as Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
