Detailed 4/20/12 WWE Smackdown Recap

-We see the Smackdown opening video, and Josh Mathews welcomes us to the show from the O2 Arena in London, England. Michael Cole informs us of the main event tonight, which will be Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, and Mark Henry going against Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Great Khali in a Six-Man Tag Team Match.

-Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring. Bryan says that his match at WrestleMania only lasting 18 seconds made it seem like his title reign never took place. He says Sheamus took the cowardly way out when he kicked him in the face after his back was turned, just like he did to Alberto Del Rio, referee Chad Patton, and then again to Bryan on last week’s Smackdown. Bryan says he will not be distracted at Extreme Rules. He reminds us that Sheamus can’t touch a referee or he will be fired. Bryan says he plans on shocking the world again in Chicago, just like he did when he won the Money in the Bank contract. Bryan says he will beat Sheamus not one, but twice, at Extreme Rules and will become the World Heavyweight Champion again. Bryan says he will out-wrestle Sheamus at Extreme Rules. He does his “YES!” chant, and A.J. comes to the ring. Before A.J. can get in the ring, Bryan tells her to stop, turn around, and go away. She says no and gets into the ring. A.J. wants to talk about their problems, but Bryan says he doesn’t have a problem anymore since he dumped her. A.J. says she knows they can work it out, and wishes him luck against Sheamus. Bryan says he wishes that she wouldn’t have come out here and that he wishes he had never met her, and wishes that she was never born. A.J. begins crying and Bryan laughs. He says there is no way that he would ever take her back. Bryan drops his microphone and leaves the ring.

-Match #1: A.J. vs. Natalya
The bell rings and A.J. continues to stare at the ramp. Natalya comes up to her and puts a hand on her shoulder. A.J. slaps Natalya She takes Natalya to the corner and just pounds away on her. The referee calls for the bell and disqualifies A.J. Winner via disqualification: Natalya

-We see that Alberto Del Rio will go one-on-one with The Big Show later tonight.

-We see another Damien Sandow promo. He quotes Benjamin Franklin and says he will usher in a new era of enlightenment for us all.

-Match #2: Brodus Clay (w/Hornswoggle, Cameron, and Naomi) vs. Hunico (w/Camacho)
Hornswoggle gets in the ring and shakes like Brodus, but Hunico shoves him to the mat. Brodus connects with his charging head-butt and clubs Hunico a few times in the corner. Brodus hits Hunico with a big back body drop and knocks Camacho off the apron. Brodus tosses Hunico over his shoulder and then hits his big splash for the win. Winner by pin fall: Brodus Clay. After the match, Hornswoggle hits a “Pterodactyl Splash” on Hunico.

-We are reminded of the Six-Man Tag main event, with Orton, Sheamus, and Khali vs. Rhodes, Bryan, and Henry.

-We see Teddy Long walking backstage, looking for Aksana. He runs into Titus O’Neil and Darren Young. They make fun of Teddy, and John Laurinaitis walks up. Laurinaitis questions why Teddy didn’t sign Titus and Darren and then puts a Queen’s Guard hat on him.

-We get an interview with Randy Orton. We see a replay from last week’s Smackdown when Kane attacked “Cowboy” Bob Orton and Randy backstage. Orton says his father will be fine in time. Orton says Kane won’t be. He says he and Kane are in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Extreme Rules. Orton says Kane is going to find out just how sick and twisted he can be.

-Match #3: Darren Young and Titus O’Neil vs. The Usos
Darren Young and Jey Uso start the match. Jey sends Young off the ropes, but Young comes back with a shoulder block. Young runs at Jey, but Jey hits a spinning corkscrew. Jey tags in Jimmy and Jimmy hits a big clothesline. Jimmy takes Young down with a couple of chops and then takes him to the corner where he tags in Jey. The Usos hits a double elbow drop and Jey goes for the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Jey charges at Young in the corner, but Young counters with a boot to the face. Young stomps on Jey and then tags in O’Neil. O’Neil and Young double team Jey for a second, and then O’Neil hits a leg drop. He goes for the cover, but Jey kicks out. O’Neil dominates Jey for a bit and then tags in Young. Young hits a swinging neck breaker and goes for the cover, but Jey kicks out at two. Young pounds away on Jey, but Jey counters and quickly tags in Jimmy. Jimmy comes in and hits two big clotheslines on Young and connects with a kick to the mid-section. Jimmy hits a Samoan drop on Young and smashes him in the corner. He goes for the cover, but O’Neil breaks it up at two. Jey charges at O’Neil, but O’Neil pulls the rope down. O’Neil makes a blind tag and he and Young hit their double team finisher on Jimmy for the win. Winners via pin fall: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young.

-We see the Raw Rebound, which focuses on the feud between Chris Jericho and CM Punk, and we are reminded that they will meet in a Chicago Street Fight for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules.

-We see The Big Show walking backstage. He will face Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match next.

-Match #4: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. The Big Show
Show hits Del Rio with a head-butt and takes him to the corner. Show attempts a chop, but Del Rio ducks and kicks Show in his knee. Show shoves Del Rio away and slams his head into the turnbuckle. Show chops Del Rio and then stands on his throat and chest in the corner. Show chops Del Rio again and slams him to the mat. Show hits an elbow drop and goes for the cover, but Del Rio kicks out at two. Show chokes Del Rio on the ropes and punches him in the mid-section. Show charges at Del Rio, but Del Rio ducks and takes out Show’s knee. Del Rio kicks Show in the head repeatedly and then stomps on his mid-section. Del Rio goes for the cover, but Show quickly powers out. Del Rio works on Show’s arm. Show powers out and attempts a chokeslam, but Del Rio counters and takes Show’s knee out again. Del Rio kicks Show in the back and goes for the cover, but Show kicks out at two. Del Rio goes for the cross arm-breaker, but Show powers out and slams Del Rio to the mat. Del Rio charges Show, but Show catches him with a big chop. Show hits a couple of clotheslines and then a big Spear on Del Rio. Show sets Del Rio up for a chokeslam, but Ricardo gets on the apron. Cody Rhodes comes in and connects with a Disaster Kick to Show. Del Rio covers him for the win. Winner via pin fall: Alberto Del Rio. After the match, Rhodes gets into the ring an attacks Show. Show gets angry and Rhodes takes off through the crowd.

-We are reminded again of the Six-Man Tag Team main event, with Orton, Sheamus, and Khali vs. Rhodes, Bryan, and Henry.

-We see Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre backstage, mocking the wrestler in the ring.

-Match #5: Danny Lerman vs. Ryback
Lerman gets the microphone and dedicates this match to his mother. Lerman kicks Ryback in the leg. Lerman tries it again, but Ryback catches his leg and shoves him to the mat. Ryback slams Lerman’s head into the mat twice, and then tosses him over his head. Ryback hits a big clothesline and hits his Muscle Buster-like finisher for the win. Winner by pin fall: Ryback.

-We see another reminder for the main event and we are told that we will see a replay of Brock Lesnar’s interview from Monday night next.

-We see Teddy Long backstage, now fully dressed in a Queen’s Guard outfit. William Regal walks up and laughs. Aksana walks up with Antonio Cesaro and Aksana introduces him as a rugby player and new WWE Superstar. Aksana and Antonio walk into John Laurinaitis’ office and Johnny mocks Teddy again.

-Match #6: Six-Man Tag Team Match: Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, and Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Great Khali
Rhodes attacks Khali during his entrance and takes out his knee. Referees and trainers take Khali to the back. The Big Show comes out and joins Orton and Sheamus. Orton pounds away on Rhodes in the corner. Orton hits a clothesline and goes for the cover, but Rhodes kicks out at two. Rhodes kicks Orton and tags in Bryan. Bryan charges at Orton, but Orton catches him with a hip toss. Orton tags in Sheamus and Bryan runs to his corner and tags in Rhodes. They tie up and back into the corner. Rhodes goes to his corner to tag in Bryan, but Bryan drops to the floor. Sheamus connects with some elbows and then stomps away on Rhodes in the corner. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Rhodes kicks out at one. Sheamus clubs Rhodes and drops a knee. He then goes for the cover, but Rhodes kicks out at two. Sheamus tosses Rhodes to the apron and does his patented ten clubs across Rhodes’ chest. Sheamus attempts to suplex Rhodes back into the ring, but Rhodes escapes and Sheamus charges at Bryan. Bryan drops to the floor and Rhodes hits a beautiful dropkick on Sheamus. Rhodes hits a baseball slide on Sheamus. Bryan hits a dropkick on Sheamus on the outside while Rhodes was distracting the referee. Rhodes tags in Bryan and Bryan takes Sheamus back into the ring. Bryan stomps and kicks Sheamus for a bit and then tags in Henry. Henry stands on Sheamus’ chest and then tags in Rhodes. Rhodes stomps away on Sheamus and applies a submission hold. Sheamus counters and backs Rhodes into the corner, but Rhodes takes out Sheamus’ knee. Rhodes puts Sheamus in a headlock, but Sheamus powers out. Rhodes goes for the Disaster Kick, but Sheamus catches him with a club to the chest that sends Rhodes to the mat. Sheamus tags in Orton, and Orton connects with a couple of clotheslines and a scoop slam on Rhodes. Orton delivers his second rope DDT to Rhodes. Bryan comes in the ring, but Orton hits him with a scoop slam. Henry clotheslines Orton and Rhodes goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Rhodes tags in Henry as Show checks on Sheamus. Henry hits a big head-butt on Orton and tags in Bryan. Bryan hits a dropkick in the corner and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Show and Henry are tagged in and Show takes him down with a big clothesline. Rhodes kicks Show and Henry takes him down with a clothesline and tags in Rhodes. Rhodes stomps away at Show and tags in Bryan, who does the same and then tags in Henry, who also does the same and tags Rhodes back in. Rhodes applies the Figure Four leglock on Show. He tags in Henry who hits a big splash on Show and goes for the cover, but Show kicks out at two. Henry tags in Bryan, who comes in and connects with a DDT. He goes for the cover, but Show powers out at two. Show tags in Sheamus who clubs away on Bryan. He slams him and goes for the cover, but Rhodes breaks it up at two. Rhodes goes to the outside and Show nails him with the WMD punch. Bryan attempts the Yes Lock on Sheamus, but Sheamus counters and attempts the Brogue Kick to no avail. Bryan tags in Henry, who connects with a head-butt to Sheamus. Sheamus hits Henry with a Brogue Kick out of nowhere and tags in Orton. Show hits Henry with the WMD punch and Orton nails him with an RKO for the win. Winners via pinfall: Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show.
