4/26/12 Impact Wrestling Recap

A video package hypes Open Fight Night where the TNA roster can call each other out and they have to come out to fight. Plus, one unknown wrestler will have a chance to earn an Impact Wrestling contract and Hulk Hogan will choose one champion to defend the title.

Hulk Hogan is seen backstage with all of the current TNA champions and says they may be called out and they will have to fight. Hogan continues to say the toughest decision for him is to choose who will be defending their championship tonight, however, he picks Samoa Joe and Magnus and tells them to put up or shut up. Hogan says they deserve nothing but the best and lists off a few tag teams that he has in mind before saying that he may let them know before the match or not at all.

An Open Fight Night intro kicks off with new music and we are welcomed to tonight’s show as Devon’s music hits and we are on to the first match of the night, which will be for the TNA Television Championship.

Match 1: Devon vs. Bully Ray (TNA Television Championship)
Prior to the match, Devon talks about how he has to now defend the TV Championship every week on Impact. Devon says is more than willing to give an opportunity to a person who needs their ass kicked and calls out his brother, Bully Ray. Ray’s music hits as he makes his way out and calls Devon stupid and says he had to be in a ring with Devon for 15 years and it made him sick. Ray says he won’t get in the ring with Devon and make him look good but says he isn’t going to give him the chance.

Ray begins to walk away but Devon runs up the ramp after him and attacks him from behind. The bell finally rings as Ray continues to attack Ray around the ringside area before rolling Ray into the ring. Ray begins to beg for mercy and offers his hand in a truce but Devon levels him with a clotheslines. Devon continues to lay into Ray and heads to the top rope, however, Ray knocks him down as we head into a commercial break.

We return to the match to see that Ray is still in control and has a minor cut above his left eye. Ray slams Devon down and follows with a splash for a near fall. Devon manages to stop Ray’s momentum with a tackle that takes Ray down. The two get back to their feet and exchange blows with Devon getting the better of the exchange and takes Ray down with a neckbreaker. Ray manages to recover, though, and counter Devon’s attack with a big boot for another near fall. Ray follows with a neckbreaker of his own for another near fall. Ray then charges at Devon but Devon counters with a spinebuster and picks up the pin fall to retain the Television Championship.

Austin Aries is backstage and says Bully Ray wasn’t able to cheat and he got beat. Aries says Ray cheated last week to defeat him and since Open Fight Night is far from over, maybe he will get a chance to get some revenge on Ray and leave an impression.

Ric Flair is backstage talking about how he has been partying everyday for 63 years. He promises to rock Orlando tonight with Eric Bischoff’s send off party. The announce team hypes Eric Bischoff Appreciation Night, TNA Gut Check and wonders who Magnus and Samoa Joe will defend the TNA Tag Team Championship against as we head into a commercial break.

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian walk into the locker room where Kurt Angle is getting ready. Daniels and Kazarian talk about what went down last week with AJ Styles and Angle gets angry by interfering in his match and says if they ever do it again, they will see a whole new side of him that they don’t want to see.

Jeremy Borash walks down to the ring and says he wants to take advantage of an opportunity. Since it’s Open Fight Night it gives everyone an opportunity to air a grievance and call someone out. Borash talks about how everyone thinks Eric Bischoff is a prick and if it’s going to be his last night on Impact Wrestling, Borash wants to call him out so he can extend his fist and put it down his throat. Borash then tells Bischoff to get his ass down to the ring right now.

Match 2: Jeremy Borash vs. Eric Bischoff
Eric Bischoff’s music hits as he comes out and applauds Borash for calling him out. Borash talks about Bischoff and using social media while drunk and calling out employees. Bischoff begins to talk down to Borash as Bully Ray sneaks into the ring and gives him a low blow from behind. Bischoff then calls out a referee so he can pin Borash while Bully Ray takes a photo to post on Twitter.

The announce team again hypes tonight’s Gut Check and tell us that we will meet the aspiring wrestler next as we head into a commercial break.

Mr. Anderson is backstage and says he has respect for Eric Bischoff and they agreed on a lot of things, but Bischoff is a douchebag and he needs to leave.

Mexican America are in the ring and Anarquia says they are sick of being disrespected. He wonders why they weren’t included as a possibility to take on Samoa Joe and Magnus tonight. Anarquia says they can beat anyone and wants to know if anyone will step up to the challenge. Kurt Angle is then seen walking backstage as he makes his way to the ring. Anarquia says Hernandez will fight him, however, as Angle turns to face Hernandez, Anarquia takes Angle out with a chop block.

Match 3: Anarquia vs. Kurt Angle
The bell rings as Anarquia sends Hernandez, Rosita and Sarita out to the floor. Angle quickly takes control of the match and takes Anarquia down with an overhead suplex and an Angle Slam. Angle then locks in an ankle lock as Anarquia quickly taps out.

A video package on Alex Silva is aired and talks about his father passing away. Silva talks about wrestling in OVW and becoming the youngest Television Champion ever as Al Snow talks about how he has a lot of heart and desire. Snow and Silva make their way to the ring as we are told that Snow will be one of the judges that Silva will have to impress to earn a TNA contract as we head into a commercial break.

Al Snow is in the ring and says he is the lead judge for Gut Check. Snow says Alex Silva will get an amazing chance to face an Impact Wrestling star for a opportunity to earn a contract. He then plugs how aspiring wrestlers can sign up for Gut Check on their web site.

Match 4: Alex Silva vs. Robbie E. (TNA Gut Check)
The bell rings as Robbie E. slaps Silva across the face. Silva slaps him back and hits Robbie E. with a flurry of offense, however, Robbie E. is able to make a quick comeback. Robbie slams Silva down to the mat a couple of times before going for a high risk move but misses. Silva begins to mount a comeback and takes Robbie down with a power slam but Robbie again quickly recovers and plants Silva down to the mat with a DDT to pick up the pin fall. After the match AL Snow tells the fans to go on Twitter and tell them what they thought of Alex Silva.

Hulk Hogan is then seen in the office looking at a sheet of paper before he begins making a phone call as we head into a commercial break.

Dixie Carter is backstage talking about Eric Bischoff and how she won’t miss him. The announce team again hypes Eric Bischoff Appreciation Night.

We then head into Hulk Hogan’s office where he is standing with four tag teams and says the best way to decide is to give them an opportunity to tell him why they deserve a shot at the tag team titles. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian go first and say the Motorcity Machine Guns lost at Lockdown, only one of Eric Young and ODB are a man, and Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson don’t like each other, so the obvious choice is to pick them.

The Machine Guns are next and they say they are the longest tag team in TNA and they are hungry. Anderson says he can get along with Hardy and that he loves him but Hogan tells him to get serious. EY says they are the only married tag team in TNA and that ODB says she would stay with Hogan for a night if they are picked. Hogan says he can’t pick a team right now but takes the Motorcity Machine Guns out of the running due to Chris Sabin’s injured knee.

Brooke Tessmacher makes her way to the ring and grabs a microphone. Brooke says she pinned Gail Kim last week in a tag team match and wants to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. She then calls Gail out for a match.

Match 5: Brooke Tessmacher vs. Gail Kim
Gail stalls a bit before the match until she gets an opening to take Brooke down to get this match started. Gail tosses Brooke around the ring and goes for a cover after taking Brooke down with a clothesline. Gail continues on the attack and levels Brooke with another clothesline. Gail then slams Brooke down to the mat and does a little showboating, which gives Brooke an opening to get in some offense. Gail quickly regains control, though, before heading to the top rope and missing with a missile dropkick. Brooke then slams Gail down to the mat and picks up the pin fall over the Knockouts Champion.

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian are backstage and say that they are going to be picked before wondering where AJ Styles is at. Kazarian says Styles better show up next week or they are going to let the cat out of the bag.

A video package on Rob Van Dam is aired where he talks about winning the match last week to become the new number one contender for the TNA World Championship. RVD says he is back and he isn’t going to let anything get in his way as he goes back to the top. Bobby Roode says RVD proved himself and knows what he is capable of, however, he hopes RVD knows what Roode is capable of.

Footage from the Gut Check match is recapped before we see Al Snow backstage with Alex Silva. Snow congratulates him and says he is going to get with the other judges before making a decision next week. Bobby Roode then walks in tells Silva how long it took him to get a contract in TNA and the sacrifices he had to make to get where he is. Roode then tells him to always be on his toes before punching him in the gut and walking away.

Hulk Hogan is back in the office with the remaining three teams. Hogan eliminates Eric Young and ODB for something EY did in a hotel room. Hogan then tells the other two teams to head to the ring so he can make his decision. The announce team hype the upcoming tag team title match and Eric Bischoff Appreciation Night as we head into a commercial break.

Garett Bischoff is backstage and says he has seen his dad use and manipulate people just to get where he is today. As much as he hates to say it, Impact Wrestling will be better without his dad.

Joseph Park meets up with Bully Ray in the backstage area where Park says people think Ray knows something about the disappearance of his brother. Park gives him a card and says if he knows anything about the disappearance of his brother to give him a call. Ray tells him to shove it and walks away as Park begins to laugh.

Samoa Joe and Magnus make their way to the ring to find out who their opponents are going to be in the upcoming Tag Team Championship match. They are followed by the teams of Christopher Daniels & Kazarian and Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson. Hulk Hogan’s music then hits as he comes out to make his decision. Hogan says because Anderson and Hardy are not a cohesive unit, he wants to see what they are made of, thus eliminating Daniels and Kazarian from the running.

Match 6: Samoa Joe & Magnus vs. Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson (TNA Tag Team Championship)
The match starts as Joe and Anderson begin to go at it and trade blows. Magnus is tagged in and Anderson tags Hardy in the hard way. Hardy comes in and quickly takes Magnus down before tagging Anderson back in but Magnus is able to take them both down before turning it over to Joe. Meanwhile, Hardy and Anderson begin to have some communication issues as we head into a commercial break.

We return to the match to see Anderson and Hardy in control over the match as they work over Magnus. Magnus rolls out to the floor and Hardy goes after him where he is met by a clothesline from Joe. Hardy is rolled back into the ring and Magnus goes for the cover to pick up a two count before tagging Joe back into the match. Magnus and Joe hit Hardy with some double team moves to pick up another near fall.

Hardy begins to fight back and hits Joe with a Whisper in the Wind before they both crawl to their corners to tag in their partners. Anderson comes in and connects with a neckbreaker on Magnus for a near fall. The match begins to break down with Magnus and Anderson on the floor and Joe and Hardy in the ring. Joe slams Hardy down for a near fall before Hardy is able to counter with a jawbreaker and a Twist of Fate.

Hardy begins making his way to the top rope but decides to instead take Magnus out on the floor. Anderson comes into the ring and rolls up Joe but Joe counters and puts Anderson in the rear naked choke. Hardy tries to break it up but Magnus holds on to him as Anderson taps out to Joe’s submission hold to retain the TNA Tag Team Championship. After the match, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian attack Joe and Magnus on the entrance ramp and lay them out before walking away.

We return to Impact Wrestling to see the ring has a red carpet in it with a photo of Eric Bischoff in one corner and a throne in the other corner the ring. Ric Flair’s music hits as he makes his way down to the ring with Bully Ray, Gunner, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. Flair says he is there to celebrate Eric Bischoff as he has been a major impact player in professional wrestling. Flair then introduces Bischoff as his music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

Bischoff shakes hands and hugs the wrestlers in the ring as the fans sing “Hey! Hey! Hey! Goodbye!” to the man of honor. Bischoff sits in his throne as Flair talks about what Bischoff has meant to him and all of the wrestlers that have worked for him. Flair says Dixie Carter should be thanking him for his time in the company, especially since he is the reason both he and Hulk Hogan are in TNA. Flair says he hopes all of the fans appreciate what Bischoff has done for the wrestling business before turning the microphone over.

Gunner steps up and says Bischoff has been a father figure to him and has given him nothing but opportunities. Flair then gives Bischoff a Rolex watch as Ray says he hopes he wears that with pride. Ray then says Bischoff is the wind beneath his wings before giving him a hug. It is cut short, though, by Garett Bischoff’s music.

Garett comes down to the ring with Jeremy Borash, the Motorcity Machine Guns, RVD, and Austin Aries. Garett says JB came up with a good idea and they all want to give him a farewell gift. Borash grabs the microphone and says while the Rolex is nice, they wanted to give him a little more symbolic of who he is. Borash then says Bischoff is the first person inducted into the Shed of Shame as a port-a-potty is rolled out.

The two sides begin to brawl around the ringside area as Garett grabs his father and drags him into the Shed of Shame. Garett and JB lock him in the port-a-potty before tipping it over. The two then unlock the door as Bischoff comes out covered in the contents of the Shed of Shame. Bischoff begins to heave as the announce team say their goodbyes and Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
